Pentagon in talks to send another aircraft carrier to Vietnam

The U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs told a think tank recently that the Pentagon is in talks with Vietnam to send an aircraft carrier to the country this year.

“We are discussing it with Vietnam right now. Our hope is that this can be a regular feature of the relationship. It would be a sign of a mature and a strategic relationship,” Schriver told the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
