The U.S. Navy has allowed fleet replacement pilots to use the Precision Landing Mode (PLM) on their Super Hornets in order to recover back on board aircraft carriers for the first time.
The new milestone was set on Feb. 8 onboard USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) with rookie pilots from VFA-106.
Rear Adm. John Meier, commander, Naval Air Forces Atlantic, was on the ship to observe the inaugural use of precession landing mode during carrier qualifications(CQ) by the squadron.
