Experts at RAND say U.S. forces often lose during tabletop exercises to defend Taiwan

Former and current experts from RAND are saying that U.S. forces are not able to defend Taiwan from a Chinese invasion.

In tabletop exercises, the blue “American” team often loses to the red “China” team and the blue team are held at bay by long-range Chinese missiles.

They argue that Taiwan should invest in mines, drones and mobile anti-ship and anti-aircraft missiles in order to delay a Chinese invasion, buying time for U.S. help to arrive.
