A researcher from Taiwan’s military think tank – Institute for National Defense and Security Research (INDSR) – has suggested that the island aquire an airborne refueling capability to extend the range and endurance of its F-16 fleet.
Chen Liang Chih says having a tanker will allow F-16s monitoring Chinese warplanes entering the south-west sector of its ADIZ to remain airborne longer and has endurance to deal with any exigencies.
Having an air refueling capablity will also allow Taiwan to provide air support over Pratas island.
