Air Combat Command has recommended that four Angry Kitten pods developed by the Georgia Tech Research Institute be converted into the Angry Kitten Combat Pod electronic attack system.

Air Force Strategic Planning Development and Experimentation Office disclosed that the Angry Kitten pods were developed to simulate enemy electronic attack signals for Air Force test and training missions.
After a successful operational assessment in April, in which the pods proved that they could be rapidly reprogrammed between flights, ACC wants these pods in service soon to counter threat systems that use software-defined radars to quickly change their radio frequency signature.
Lt. Col. Stephen Graham, the Angry Kitten Combat Pod operational assessment test director, said during the two-week test, the self-defense jamming pod’s mission data file software was updated overnight to improve performance seen against threats each day.
The test team completed 30 sorties and demonstrated post-flight reprogramming to improve effects seen in earlier flights.
