Pentagon orders CSG 5 to remain in the vicinity of Taiwan; ICBM test postponed; conduct Taiwan Strait transits in the next few weeks

The Pentagon has ordered Carrier Strike Group 5 to remain in the vicinity off the east coast of Taiwan to monitor the developing situation.

During a press briefing at the White House, NSC Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby, added that a long-planned Minuteman III ICBM test scheduled for this week has been postponed as well.

Kirby added that the U.S. military will conduct standard air and maritime transits through the Taiwan Strait in the next few weeks.
