Pentagon orders CSG 5 to remain in the vicinity of Taiwan; ICBM test postponed; conduct Taiwan Strait transits in the next few weeks

The Pentagon has ordered Carrier Strike Group 5 to remain in the vicinity off the east coast of Taiwan to monitor the developing situation.

220802-N-DW158-2036 PHILIPPINE SEA (Aug. 2, 2022) An EA-18G Growler attached to the Shadowhawks of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 141 launches from the flight deck of the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) in the Philippine Sea, Aug. 2. The primary role of EA-18G Growlers is to disrupt the ability to communicate between units in combat through the use of electronic warfare. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, and supports alliances, partnerships and collective maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific region. ACC wants to acquire four Angry Kitten Combat Pods

Air Combat Command has recommended that four Angry Kitten pods developed by the Georgia Tech Research Institute be converted into the Angry Kitten Combat Pod electronic attack system.

Direct ground refueling of MQ-9 using MV-22 carried out for the first time

Working together with the U.S. Marine Corps, the 163rd Attack Wing has proven that the MQ-9 can be refueled on the ground while connected to an MV-22.
