U.S. Under secretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics, Frank Kendall, has signed off the Boeing KC-46A aerial refueling tanker for low-rate initial production.

KC-46 Milestone C decision this month
Secretary of the U.S. Air Force Deborah Lee James confirmed to reporters that she will meet with air force senior staff members to make a decision on approving the low-rate initial production of the Boeing KC-46 tanker.

KC-46A has completed its first round of mid-air refueling demonstrations
The Boeing KC-46A tanker is required to complete a series of in-flight refueling tests with a variety of Air Force, Marines and Navy aircraft before a Milestone C production decision can be made. The tanker managed to sign off all the checklists on Jul. 15 by refueling the A-10 with 1,500 pounds of fuel.

KC-46 has successfully refuel the C-17
The U.S. Air Force announced that the KC-46 flying with a modified boom has managed to refuel a C-17 in mid-air and the previously observe axial loading issues were not present this time.
