The Pentagon had planned to buy 55 F-35s in fiscal year 2016, however, two government officials told Bloomberg that the Department of Defense is now seeking permission to buy 57 aircraft.
Spanish newspaper El Pais reported last week that the Pentagon is seeking permission from Spain to station up to 3,000 Marines at Moron air base.
