RTN S-70B did well against USS San Francisco during ASW exercise

The Royal Thai Navy and the U.S. Navy carried the bilateral Exercise Guardian Sea in the Andaman Sea May 23-27 and a senior RTN officer said his service’s S-70B anti-submarine helicopter did very well in the exercise.

South Korea pursuing SLBM program

An anonymous South Korean official was quoted by Korea Joongang Daily as saying that Seoul intends to fit submarine-launch ballistic missile (SLBM) on its next generation Chang Bogo-III submarine.

South Korea modifying the Mk 41 VLS on Sejong the Great-class destroyers

As part of its long-term plan to arm its Sejong the Great-class destroyers with the SM-3 and SM-6 air intercept missiles, the South Korean Navy is proceeding with the Mk 41 VLS on three existing ships.

Modified SM-3 Block IB successfully tested

The U.S. Navy successfully tested two SM-3 Block 1B interceptors that were equipped with a modified third-stage rocket motor nozzle on May 25 and 26.

Pentagon says Chinese intercept of EP-3 violated agreement

DoD spokesman Bill Urban told Reuters that the Chinese J-11 intercept of a U.S. Navy EP-3 spy plane over South China Sea on May 17 had violated an agreement on rules and behaviors during such encounters by both sides.
