USS Kearsarge launched AV-8Bs to strike ISIL in Iraq

Even though the U.S. 5th Fleet currently does not have an aircraft carrier deployed in its area of operations, U.S. naval aviation was still able to conduct air strikes against ISIL by launching AV-8Bs from USS Kearsarge.

CSBA: Two American carriers in Japan

Bryan Clark and Jesse Sloman from the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments are proposing the idea of having two forward-deployed aircraft carriers in Japan instead of just one.

HMS Defender to provide air defense cover for carrier Charles de Gaulle

As a French naval task force lead by aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle departs for the Mediterranean, Royal Navy warship HMS Defender will join the group of ships to provide air defense cover.
