CIA’s recovery of Hexagon film capsule declassified

The U.S. Navy was roped in by the CIA to recover a film capsule from a KH-9 Hexagon spy satellite that had landed 16,400 feet below the Pacific Ocean in 1972. Details of that salvage operation was recently declassified.

Syria’s first man in space and Air Force officer defects

Turkey’s state-run news agency reported Sunday that Syria’s first man in space, Gen. Mohammed Ahmed Fares, has defected to Turkey and joined the Free Syrian Army. A video on YouTube shows him visiting a rebel base in Aleppo, his hometown.

Israel upgrades Arrow 2 to Block IV
