U.S. Air Force pilots take on remote flight for Joby eVTOL aircraft

The U.S. Air Force has reached a significant milestone in its efforts to bring zero-emissions aviation into the military. Recently, Air Force pilots remotely flew a Joby electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft at the company’s Marina, California, manufacturing facility. During the flights, the pilots assumed remote pilot-in-command responsibilities and transitioned the flight for the eVTOL. The goal was to prepare the Air Force for delivery of aircraft to Edwards Air Force Base, California. The first two Joby aircraft are expected to be delivered to Edwards in early 2024.

Double MiG-29 killer; F-15C 86-0156, retires to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force

The only F-15C to score two MiG-29 kills has been retired to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force on Apr. 25. Lt. Col. Matthew “Beast” Tanis flew #86-0156 from Barnes Air National Guard Base in Massachusetts to Dayton, becoming the last person to fly the jet.

Vietnam might procure more L-39NG advanced jet trainers

Vietnam is considering ordering additional L-39NG advanced jet trainers from Czech manufacturer Aero Vodochody, as reported by Reuters. Delivery of the initial 12 aircraft is set to commence this year. During Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala’s three-day visit to Vietnam last week, security was a primary topic discussed with Vietnamese leaders. The Czech business delegation that accompanied Fiala included four arms dealers. Talks between both parties also involved the L 410 NG cargo aircraft, which is produced by Aircraft Industries.

Philippine Air Force SF-260FH crashes

A Philippine Air Force (PAF) SF-260FH basic trainer aircraft, #033, encountered a problem after take off from runaway 21 of Fernando Air Base in Lipa, Batangas on Apr. 24. The aircraft subsequently crashed.

Red Tails bids farewell to the F-16

The 100th fighter squadron of the 187th Fighter Wing bid farewell to its last F-16 Block 30 fighter jets on Apr. 21 with farewell flyaway ceremony held at Dannelly Field in Montgomery.
