Chinese navy to train first female carrier-based aircraft pilots

China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy has recently launched its 2023 recruiting program, which includes a significant development that marks a milestone in the country’s military history. For the first time, female cadet pilots will be recruited to fly carrier-based aircraft. The program is open to eligible candidates who pass the selection procedures that test their physical and psychological qualities and flying talent. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to become China’s first female carrier-based aircraft pilots.

Philippine Navy personnel completes training on operating BrahMos anti-ship missile

Japan’s ruling parties agree to proposal to shot down balloons, drones

Japan’s Ministry of Defense has proposed a relaxation of the self-defense force’s weapons use policy in response to the threat of foreign drones and balloons violating Japanese airspace. The country’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito Party have agreed to the proposal, which would allow for the use of weapons against drones and balloons that obstruct the safe flight of aircraft, even if such action doesn’t qualify as legitimate self-defense. The lawmakers were briefed on the proposal on Feb. 16 and approved the idea on the same day.
