U.S. Navy to retire VT-86’s Rockwell T-39 Sabreliner

The U.S. Navy will retire its last Rockwell T-39 Sabreliner with VT-86 in August. One single T-39D will remain in service with VX-31.

F-35A fire was “isolated incident”

Breaking Defense was told that the F-35A fire at Eglin Air Force Base on Jun. 23 was an isolated incident and will not affect the entire fleet.

Cost of upgrading F-35 reduced by $920 million

The Pentagon projected that it will only have to spend $1.65 billion instead of $2.57 billion to upgrade and fix problems found on early production batches of the F-35.
