South Korean F-4 phantom pilot takes on last ride

A video from South Korean broadcaster KBS features Lee Jae-woo, a retired South Korean Air Force Major General and current professor at Dongguk University.

In 1968, General Lee was one of the select few pilots chosen to train on the F-4D Phantom fighter jet at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in the United States. The F-4 Phantom served as a mainstay of the South Korean Air Force for over five decades.

The video captures an emotional moment for General Lee as he gets a chance to climb into the backseat of an F-4E at Suwon Air Base for a high-speed taxi run. This experience coincides with the recent retirement of the F-4 Phantom from South Korean service.
