USAF to restructure 57th Operations Group to focus on CAS integration

The U.S. Air Force is planning to enhance its focus on close air support mission by restructuring the 57th Operations Group and assign a F-16 squadron to the group at Nellis Air Force Base.

Head of Air Combat Command, Gen. Hawk Carlisle, explained that the move will allow the air force to refine its close air support skills well into the future.

Once the unit achieves full operational capability, it will conduct all graduate-level CAS training as well as operational training for the forward air control mission.
