USAF’s last operational KB-50J is moving to a new home

Folks over at Warbird News says the KB-50J Superfortress, #49-0389, on display at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida is being dismantled for a long road trip to the Air Mobility Command Museum in Dover, Delaware.

The base has not been able to properly maintain the aircraft and the region’s hot, humid and salt-laden coastal air is having an impact on the warbird.

Thus a decision was made to shift it to the Air Mobility Command Museum, where a dedicated band of volunteers will ensure that the plane will be well-maintained.
