USAF releases video showing how the QUICKSINK anti-ship weapon works

The U.S. Air Force has produced a video showing how the GBU-31 based QUICKSINK anti-ship munition is used to take out maritime targets.

In the video, the front part of the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) is integrated with a new seeker that resembles the semi-active laser (SAL) seeker head of the Paveway family of laser-guided bombs.

The service says the QUICKSINK will have the same lethality as the Mk 48 heavyweight torpedo but achieving higher rates of kills and over a wider area as it is launch from the air.

The webpage also disclosed that the Air Force Research Laboratory plans to test the weapon at Atlantic Thunder 22 and Valiant Shield 22.
