Gates, Young clashed over Humvees and senors for U-2

U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates accused the House Appropriations Defense subcommittee with protecting a defense manufacturer by refusing to divert funds from buying Humvees to sensors for U-2s, UAVs.

Gates argued that $863 million will be spent on the vehicles which the Pentagon no longer wants and the funds should be diverted for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) gear requested by Gen. David Petraeus.
