China rejected North Korea’s request for JH-7, C-801 and C-802

South Korea’s JoongAng Daily reported that China turned down a request from North Korea last year for 30 JH-7 fighter bombers equipped with C-801 and C-802 anti-ship missiles.

North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-il had asked China’s President Hu Jingtao for the weapons during his visit to Beijing in May last year shortly after the sinking of Cheonan last March.

Beijing did not buy Pyongyang’s argument that United States and South Korea would retaliate for the sinking of Cheonan.
