A British solider from 3rd Battalion The Rifles was killed in Afghanistan in December 2009 after U.S. Apaches mistook them for insurgents and fired on them.
An inquest found that British commanders had called in the Apaches after a Taliban bomb attack on the base.
Statements made by the crew of the two Apaches said they were unaware that the compound they attacked was Patrol Base Almas.
