Lt. Col. Jeffrey Scott, commanding officer of VMFA-121, flew the F-35B to MCAS Miramar to test the jet’s ability to operate at a base without permanent F-35 testing or operational support.
Scott circled the airfield twice, did a touch-and-go, opened the weapons bay before landing the aircraft.
