MDHI cleared to sell MD540F to U.S. and foreign military customers

Boeing has failed in its attempt to stop MD Helicopters, Inc. (MDHI) from offering its MD540F helicopter for the U.S. Army’s Armed Aerial Scout (AAS) competition.

Boeing had argued that the MD540F was no different Mission Equipped Little Bird (MELB) helicopter that Boeing offered for the U.S. Army’s Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter (ARH) program. The company said the agreement with MDHI in regards to the ARH should be applicable to the AAS program as well.

An arbitration panel has now ruled that MDHI did not violate the agreement and could offer its MD540F to the U.S. Army for the AAS program or for sale to any other foreign or U.S. military organization.
