Four U.S. thinktanks recommend downsizing carrier fleet

In a recent budget war game, four U.S. thinktanks: Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, American Enterprise Institute, Center for a New American Security, and the Center for Strategic and International Studies, all recommended that the Pentagon downsize the aircraft carrier fleet and move the money elsewhere for other programs.

None recommended to stop production of new carriers but all four separately concluded that current carriers due for overhaul should be retired instead.
