During a recent Air Base Ground Defense training in California, the U.S. Marine Corps evaluated a new unmanned ground vehicle to secure the airfield.

The Mobile Detection Assessment Response System (MDARS) was developed by the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command.
The semi-autonomous system has an array of sensors, cameras and radar to detect intruders. One of the two vehicles under evaluation was equipped with weapons.
