Russia lost last remaining US-KMO missile warning satellite

A Russian early warning missile detection satellite has been lost permanantly. The Kosmos 2479 satellite was the last of the US-KMO series that operate in geosynchronous orbit.

It was launched into space in 2012 and was expected to stay up there for four to five years.
