Kendall: F-35A engine failure likely not systemic

The Pentagon’s chief weapons buyer Frank Kendall told lawmakers that the fire that started in a F-35A was likely to be an isolated case.

He added that all existing engines had been inspected and that the kind of failure that caused the fire at Eglin cannot be found on other engines.

However, he stressed that more data needs to be collected to find the root cause of the issue.
