F-16 pilots used IR senor on AGM-65 to spot Taliban

When the 389th Fighter Squadron deployed over Afghanistan, it did not have any targeting pod to help identify Taliban militants on the ground.

The pilots then decided to use the infrared sensor on the AGM-65 missile to perform road reconnaissance.
