New rail-guided satellite launch system to debut in October

A new rail-guided satellite launch system for the Pentagon’s Operationally Responsive Space office will lift off into space from Hawaii this October.

Super Strypi is jointly developed by Sandia National Laboratories, University of Hawaii and Aerojet Rocketdyne.

The project hopes to bring down the costs of launching small satellites into space to $15 million per flight.
