F-35 ejection seat issue expected to be resolved by 2017

F-35 Joint Program Office says three fixes are available to solve the recent ejection seat issue. All three solutions are expected to be implemented by summer 2017, the office has said.

The easiest fix among the three is to have a switch on the seat that delays the deployment of the main parachute for lightweight pilots.

The other two solutions involve reducing the weight of the helmet and sewing a fabric head support panel between the parachute risers to stop the pilot’s head from moving backward as the parachute opens.
