A Spanish Air Force AS 332 search-and-rescue helicopter crashed into the Atlantic Ocean on Oct. 23. All three crew members were rescued by a Moroccan patrol boat.

The aircraft went down 280 nautical miles off the coast of Gando, Gran Canaria. It was returning to the Canaries after taking part in a two-week training mission with the Senegalese military in Dakar.
