U.S. forces had ordered air strike on hospital in Kunduz, thinking it was under Taliban control

U.S. Army Green Berets requested an air strike on a hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan on Oct. 3 as they believed it was under Taliban control.

The Associated Press reported that a day before the AC-130 raid, the country director of Doctors without Borders had been asked by a U.S. official if there are Taliban forces in the facility. Doctors Without Borders have denied that Taliban fighters had seized the facility.
