Taiwan found out that its new AH-64Es’ tail rotor gearboxes were corroding in the hot and humid climate in March and steps have been taken to solve the problem.

The gearbox on the E model uses a new aluminum-magnesium alloy and Boeing is investigating if the new material is the culprit.
