Maiden flight of ATD-X scheduled to first quarter of 2016

A program manager with Japan’s Ministry of Defense said the first flight of the ATD-X stealth demonstrator is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2016.

According to Hirofumi Doi, the prototype will then be handed over to the JSDF for further testing.

Takahiro Yoshida, a director in the ministry, said the ATD-X could lead to a successor for the Mitsubishi F-2 if testing is successful.
