Perry: U.S. government should skip replacement of Minuteman ICBM

Former U.S. Defense Secretary William Perry said that United States was on “the brink of a new nuclear arms race” and the government should not invest in developing an alternative to the Minuteman intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

ICBMs are the easiest to launch amongst the various types of nuclear weapons, thus they posed the greatest threat of an accidental nuclear war.

He was however pragmatic that his suggestion will unlikely be taken up.
