Japan Air Self-Defense Force fighters were scrambled on Dec. 21 to intercept two Russian Tu-95 long-range bombers and a A-50 AEW&C aircraft.
The A-50 flew a circular orbit off the western part of Japan while the two bombers circled the Japanese islands in an anti-clockwise route.
