U.S. Air Force and Navy’s next generation fighter won’t be common platform

Lt. Gen. James Holmes, the U.S. Air Force’s deputy chief of staff for plans and requirements, told reporters that his service and the U.S. Navy will go their separate ways for their sixth-generation fighter jet.

“We will use common technologies and maybe some common things, but at this point we think it will be a different enough mission that it won’t be the same airplane,” Holmes said.
