Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet says military flights to continue despite deployment of HQ-9

The commander of the U.S. Navy’s 7th Fleet said military flights will continue even though China has deployed an air defense system in South China Sea.

“We will fly, sail, operate wherever international law allows, including those areas,” Vice Adm. Joseph Aucoin.

He added that the missiles have a “destabilizing effect” on the region and called on China to be transparent of its intentions.
