Russia wants to take sharper pictures of United States during Open Skies flights

Russia has put forward a request to equip its Tu-154M Open Skies Treaty monitoring aircraft with advanced digital cameras during flights over the United States this year.

Some senior American intelligence and military officials are concern as over the years, Russian flights over United States have been flown over power plants, communications networks and other critical infrastructure. By having digital cameras on board, Russia will have a cheap way to fill in some important intelligence gaps.
