A convoy carrying the S-300 air defense system was videotaped as it went along Gilan Province in Iran earlier this week. Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari confirmed on Apr. 11 that the first shipment of the air defense system has been completed.
“We hope that under the new plan, different phases of implementation will be completed to the end of the contract,” he added.
Iran had placed an order for the long-range air defense missile system back in 2007 but U.N. sanctions prevented Russia from delivering it.
