The rotor-craft, operating from HMAS Perth, was dispatched to search for a fishing vessel off the coast of Seychelles.

HMAS Perth had been conducting a logistics and crew respite visit to the island town of Port Victoria, Seychelles when the Seychelles Maritime Safety Agency made the support request, the press statement said.

Six people were in the water and the helicopter managed to locate an adult plus an infant and help direct a civilian boat to pick them up.
