The F-35’s program manager, Lt. Gen. Chris Bogdan, revealed that the stealth fighter might have a new engine sometime in the next decade.

According to him, the engine refresh will either see improvements being done to the existing F135 turbofan engine or a new engine being installed.

“Whether it finds its way onto the F-35 in the current engine or some modified engine remains to be seen, but we do fully expect in the mid-20s to include some advanced technologies on engines,” said Bogdan.
