The Marine Corps explained that the firing of Workman was due to “issues concerning command climate” at the squadron and not due to the lost of two Hornets within a year.
The squadron lost two F/A-18Cs on Jul. 28 and Aug. 2 this year. The first crash killed the pilot.
Workman, 41, told the Union-Tribune, “It just didn’t work out.”
