Lockheed Martin still keen to have Aegis on board LPD-28

Almost a year after proposing to have its Aegis system installed on board the U.S. Navy’s next San Antonio-class Amphibious Transport Dock, Lockheed Martin says there are “some chatter and interest” coming from the Navy on that effort.

The firm hopes to have the radar installed on board LPD-28, the next ship being built by Huntington Ingalls Industries. If approved, the company hopes to retrofit the Aegis on all 11 other LPDs as well.
