The U.S. Air Force has established an experimental laboratory named Kessel Run in Boston. The aim of the lab is for the development of mission-critical military software at the shortest possible time.

The first piece of application to emerge from the lab is a software to manage the deployment of aerial tankers. These was done previously by hand using whiteboards. The folks at Kessel Run parted with a company to create an app to do that in four months.
