India’s Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has flagged issues over the purchase of P-8I maritime patrol aircraft nine years ago.

The auditors said that when evaluating bids from Airbus and Boeing, the Ministry of Defense had wrongly declared that the P-8I was cheaper as it had failed to include a 20-year support package in Boeing’s bid. The support package was included in Airbus’ A319 bid.
They also found that the twin-engine jet fails to meet the Indian Navy’s full requirements “owing to capability limitations of radars installed onboard.”
