Indonesia’s state-run Antara news agency has reported that U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis has assured Indonesia that it will not be sanctioned with an embargo for purchasing weapons system equipment from Russia.

Indonesia is in the process of buying Su-35 fighter jets from Russia and is worried that the transaction will trigger the Countering America`s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA).
An official statement seen by Antara states that Indonesia, India, and Vietnam will not be affected by CAATSA.
