The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the Tokyo University Graduate School of Engineering’s Aerospace Engineering department will be working together to send models of the original Gundam and Char’s Zaku from the Mobile Suit Gundam anime into space.
They will hitch a ride into space aboard the new G-Satellite. Both models will be released into space after being launched from the International Space Station.
The stunt is part of the celebration of the franchise’s 40th anniversary and to cheer on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
