AIM-9X Block II fired from NASAMS launcher

The AIM-9X Block II dogfight missile has been successfully test-fired from the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) launcher for the first time last month.

Raytheon says the testing was carried out at the Andoya Test Center in Norway.

“Pairing Sidewinder with AMRAAM means forces can have complementary interceptors with a mix of sensors to better engage and destroy threats that may attempt to overwhelm a defense system,” said Kim Ernzen, vice president of Raytheon Air Warfare Systems.
